HOT WATER GENERATION

FOOD

20127611207437109

A project is carried out for the generation of hot water.

In a given production process, a large amount of hot water is consumed from 50ºC to 75ºC.

This hot water is incorporated into a food process, so it must meet the highest quality standards, and have a temperature precision of no more than 0.1ºC.

PROJECT DETAILS

CUSTOMER

Ice cream factory, integrated supplier of an important chain of Spanish markets

PROJECT TYPES

COMPLETE STUDY AND DESIGN IN 3D GIVEN THE RESTRICTION OF SPACE IN THE PLACE OF INSTALLATION.

Fully automatic and energy efficient heating system, where the water is heated in two stages: a first with steam from the factory network, and a second through cogeneration at the factory, which implies savings of up to 60%, compared to heating only with steam

TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS

25,000L buffer tank, in AISI316L for hot water storage.
Water filtration system
Plate heat exchanger, in stainless steel, with steam heating body and cogeneration heating body.
Steam and condensate control elements: control valves, condensate pumps.
Stainless steel pipes, fabricated on site.
Double seat valves for safe CIP cleaning.
Instrumentation for adjustment and monitoring of flows, temperatures and pressures.
10 centrifugal pumps of different flow rates and pressures, for transferring water to different points.
Catwalk and access stairs to the different points of the installation.

REQUIREMENTS

The customer needs to heat a large amount of water for their production process.

Due to the limited space, the heating equipment has to be as compact as possible, as well as accessible for the required maintenance tasks. It is also important that the process water circuit is properly cleaned. For this, a correct design of the pipes and valves is essential to eliminate any possible risk of contamination of the CIP cleaning agent with the product.

VALUE-ADDED PROPOSITION AND SOLUTIONS

Fully personalized customised project: requirements together with the client, the needs were defined in consultation with the client in order, to later createmake a technical proposal.

The most important challenge we faced was installation and start-up of the project, with the factory in operation pressing need to incorporate the hot water into its production process, which considerably limited the execution time.

Once the technical proposal was approved, the elements were manufactured and later installed.

Another challenge we overcame was to correctly design the pipes and properly select the valves so that the product was never mixed with the cleaning agent.
